PH Racing Club’s Gayle Lindsay and Kristin Lownie have enjoyed success over the last two weekends, with both placing first female at different half marathons.
On the first day of the month, Gayle Lindsay (main picture) took on the Forfar Multi-Terrain Half Marathon. This popular race is organised by Forfar Road Runners who describe the route as containing a varied mixture of running surfaces including country park paths, tarmac, pavement, farm tracks, fields and bogs – and a water section which can be knee deep (and ice cold). Gayle placed as first female and 17th overall in 1:33:05, almost two minutes ahead of second-placed Chelsea Cook of Metro Aberdeen.
Then last weekend it was Kristin Lownie’s turn to test herself over 13.1 miles, at the Blast Running Innocent Half. This race had a completely new course for 2026, on the east side of Edinburgh, appropriately including a section on the Innocent Railway path. Kristin finished as first female in 1:25:45 and 16th overall, giving her a winning margin of in excess of 4 minutes over Portobello’s Elizabeth Polgreen.

Well done to Gayle and Kristin and thanks to race organisers Forfar Road Runners and Blast Running. Thanks also to Perfect Timing Scotland and Michael Philp for the race and finish line photos.
