Congratulations once again to PH Racing Club’s Luke McNeil who has won the Run of the Month vote for November. This is Luke’s second win in three months and means he will have two runs on the ballot for the Run of the Year which will take place soon.
This time Luke was nominated for his outstanding performance at the Up And Running Half Marathon at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, where he was the overall winner by a margin of more than 5 minutes. His time of 1:12:05 was only seconds away from Ben Hukins’ club record, set at the 2019 Kirkcaldy Parks Half. Perhaps this will be broken very soon!
Also nominated were Andrew Wright and Andy Davis who both won national medals at the start of the month. Andrew Wright won British Masters V50 bronze at the 10k Championships in Newcastle, with a time of 34:55 on a tough course. At the Scottish Short Course XC Champs at Lanark Racecourse, Andy Davis also took home a V50 bronze, for his run of 14:05 over the relatively flat 4k course.
Michael Stewart was nominated again, this time the Dava Way 50k race, which turned out to be more like 52k which he completed in a little over six hours. Malcolm Hammond represented Scotland for the first time at the GB and Irish Masters Cross Country International at Roundhay Park, Leeds and was put forward for his run of 32:46 for the 6k course in horrible conditions. Malcolm was also the first counter for Scotland’s V75 bronze medal winning team.
PH men’s masters have made a good start to this winter’s East District XC League, sitting 3rd with two of the three races completed. First counter in both races was Ben Hukins and he was nominated for the second of these, at Camperdown Park, Dundee. There he finished as the 5th over 40 runner with a time of 28:44 for the course of approximately 8k.
Well done to all, and in particular to Luke for winning the vote again and joining Gayle Lindsay and Kristin Lownie with two runs going forward for Run of the Year. The annual winner will be announced at our Christmas Night Out and Awards later in the month.
