PH Racing Club’s Malcolm Hammond made his first appearance in a Scotland vest at last weekend’s British and Irish Masters XC International at Roundhay Park in Leeds, and came home with a bronze medal.

Having qualified for the M75 team at last month’s trial race in Glasgow, Malcolm took on the tough 6k course in the first race of the day, which was for over 65s of both sexes. Conditions were very wet resulting in a hazardous descent on each 2k lap, but he nevertheless put in an excellent run of 32:46 to finish 6th in the M75 category. He was first counter for the team, along with Alex Sutherland and Robert Donachie, which won a bronze medal for Scotland.

Well done to Malcolm on making his international debut and thanks to the organisers for putting on the event in testing conditions. Thanks also to WoodenTops for the race photos. Hopefully we will see a few more from PH make the team for next year’s international in Dublin.
