PH Racing Club’s Andy Davis and Andrew Wright both won national bronze medals over the weekend in very different races.

On Saturday, Andy Davis was the quickest of five PH men to run the Scottish Short Course XC Championships at Lanark Racecourse. This was a short and sharp 4k race over relatively flat terrain and conditions were very good on the whole with not much mud to speak of.

Andy’s time of 14:05 won him a V50 bronze medal, behind gold medalist Brent Brodie of Bellahouston Harriers, and just behind second-placed Tim Hely of Edinburgh A.C. Peter Gibson and Gary Pirie both ran their first races since the recent Frankfurt Marathon, finishing in 14:37 and 15:49 respectively. Scott Love wasn’t far back in 15:57 and Neil McLure made his PH cross country debut. timing at 18:45.

Andrew Wright is making the most of his marathon training, and on Sunday headed down to Newcastle for the Heaton Harriers 10k, which incorporated the British Masters 10k Championships. Andrew finished up with a V50 bronze medal in the championships with a time of 34:55 on a tough course with a lot of gravel. Brian Wilder of Veterans A.C. and Herne Hill Harriers took gold ahead of Trafford A.C.’s Jeff Prest.

Also over the weekend, Michael Stewart was back on the ultra trail at the Dava Way 50k, which ended up being more like 52k. He finished as 6th V60 in a time of 6:05:23. We had members at two different late season half marathons on Sunday. PH training seems to be paying off quickly for newest member Jordy Hutt who ran the Up And Running Half Marathon at Strathclyde Park, timing at 1:27:58 which we think is a PB. Jamie Strachan also ran this race on a very wet morning round the loch, recording 1:37:54. Meanwhile at Glen Clova Half Marathon, Michael Lindsay and Sarah Paterson finished in 1:32:17 and 1:45:01 respectively.

Well done to all and thank you to Heaton Harriers for the image from their prize giving.
