Congratulations to PH Racing Club’s Malcolm Hammond who has secured a place in the Scotland team for next month’s British and Irish Masters XC to be held in Roundhay Park, Leeds.
The Scottish Veteran Harriers Trial Race took place last weekend at Tollcross Park, Glasgow with Malcolm completing the 6k course in 27:09 to finish 1st V75. With the top three in each age category selected, this guarantees his place in what will be something of a homecoming for Yorkshireman Malcolm! He will be the second member of the Hammond family to represent his adopted country, with son John having previously competed for Scotland in the 2022 Anglo-Celtic Plate 100k.
Also taking part in the trial race was Paul Kieran who was 6th V50, finishing his longer 8k race in 28:06. This doesn’t automatically secure a place but he could still be picked for the team which will be announced soon.
As ever it’s fantastic to see our members receive international recognition.
