The City of Stirling 10k took place on Sunday, with PH athletes once again collecting prizes. Though not hosting the Scottish Championships this year, the race still boasted a high calibre field including 11 club members. Luke McNeil was the highest placed PH athlete with a new personal best time of 32:49, just a few seconds shy of our club record.

Dan Monaghan continued his excellent form with another good run of 34:17, his second quickest over the distance. Peter Gibson finished in 36:01, not far ahead of Aaron Bennet’s 36:18.

Julie Menzies placed 3rd V50 for her run of 40:52, while John Crookston was among the top V60s, timing at 42:21. Sarah Paterson was pleased with her run of 42:40, just ahead of Derek Cosgrove’s 43:07.

Our other prize winner of the day was Malcolm Hammond, who picked up another 1st V70 award for his superb run of 44:38. Mark Mackenzie was just behind, clocking 45:04 and Ruth Harvey completed her race in 55:45.

Meanwhile, Clare Graham was taking on the UK’s biggest half marathon, the Great North Run, from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to South Shields. This is a favourite race of Clare’s and she added another medal to her collection, complete with a map of Sunderland thanks to a faux pas by the organisers. It’s just a good job our Geordie racer Dan Monaghan was in Stirling rather than his hometown!

Well done to Central AC for putting on another great race, less so to Great Run for messing up the medals, and thanks to George Vekic Photography for the race photos from Stirling.
