The results of our July Run of the Month vote are in and we are pleased to announce that Dan Monaghan is the winner for his superb run at the Brig Bash 5 Mile Race at the start of the month. This means his name will be on the ballot when the Run of the Year vote takes place in December.
Dan’s personal best time of 27:15 also secured him 50 points in the club championship, a feat which he repeated at this week’s Ceres 8 Mile, where his 6th place time of 46:47 was perhaps even more impressive and could well appear on the August shortlist! Also nominated for the Brig Bash was Gayle Lindsay who finished as 2nd female in a new club record time of 29:26, continuing her fine run of form.
Andrew Wright would appear unlucky not to win having secured a Scottish Trail Championship V50 gold medal at the Crieff 10k. Of course, the same could be said of Ed Norton who won a Scottish 800m/1500m V70 gold double for the fourth successive year, but such is the competition in what is a monthly vote for club members.
Also among the July nominees was Alistair Radbourne, who once again won a trio of V55 sprint medals at the Scottish Championships – 100m bronze, 200m silver and 100m bronze. Mark Western was nominated for his V60 bronze medal run in the 5000m at the same championships.
The final nominee was Ben Hukins for his 3rd place overall finish at the Dollar Hill Race. He also had an excellent run at Ceres 8 this week where he won the V40 prize as well as 48 club championship points, timing at 48:32. Phil Waring separated Dan and Ben with a superb run of 47:50 in this 10th of 15 races. Other PH prize winners at Ceres were Kristin Lownie, who finished 3rd female in 53:20, and Julie Menzies, 2nd V50 in 56:36.
Well done again to Dan on his Run of the Month win and to all the other nominees for even getting on the ballot. August’s vote promises to be another tight one with a number of good performances already logged.
Thanks to the various race organisers, and especially this week to Fife AC who put on yet another brilliant event at the Ceres 8. Also thanks to Pete Bracegirdle for the Brig Bash race photograph.
