Ed Norton’s gold medal-winning run at the Sri Chinmoy Scottish 5k Championships has been voted the PH Racing Club Run of the Month for May by his fellow members. This was Ed’s third consecutive V70 gold medal in this race, having also taken silver in 2022. On this occasion he timed at 20:37 which currently ranks him 8th in the UK and 1st in Scotland for 2025. Huge congratulations to Ed on another great performance!

Ed’s was just one of a number of fine runs at ‘The Fast One’ at Silverknowes which has already been reported on here. Also nominated for Run of the Month were Dan Monaghan, who was almost back to his best with a run of 16:36, and Phil Waring who went from no races for five months to three in the space of a week, culminating with a 16:44 5k!

There were also three nominations for runs at Perth Road Runners’ Tay Ten. Luke McNeil could very easily have been nominated for his superb 15:54 at Silverknowes, but ended up on the ballot for his run of 56:51 in 3rd place at Perth, achieved despite being hit in the leg with a golf ball! Also nominated for runs there were Julie Menzies, who broke the V50 course record with 67:55, and Stuart Green who slipped under the hour mark and won the V40 prize with 59:49. Full report on this race can be found here.

The remaining three nominees were drawn from three different races. Ben Hukins had an excellent run at the Black Rock ‘5’, finishing 1st V40 in 24:45 as reported here. Gayle Lindsay had another great run, winning the Bermuda Day Half Marathon Derby for the third year in a row in 1:26:38 in hot and humid conditions. And the month was rounded off in style at the Ravenscraig Mile in Kirkcaldy where the stand out PH performance came from Peter Gibson, nominated for his run of 4:54.

Well done to all nine nominees and everyone else who raced in May! Our next Club Championship event is tonight’s Kirkcaldy Prom 2 Mile.
