Congratulations to Gayle Lindsay who has won our new Run of the Month for the second time in a row, having won the inaugural award for December’s Tilli 10k. Now back in Bermuda where she is based, Gayle took on the Bermuda Triangle Challenge, consisting of three races over three days, and her performances in these were collectively voted Run(s) of the Month for January by her club mates.

Gayle ran in the elite women’s mile race on the Friday night running a time of 5:21. She then ran 37.23 in the 10k, before rounding off with a PB of 1:24.20 in the half marathon on Sunday, placing 3rd female overall.  She was first local female in all of the races. Katrina Lindsay also took part in the event, running a 5:46 mile, 41:35 10k and 1:37:09 half marathon.

Well done also to our other three nominees put forward by club members. Ewan Taylor’s run at the Aonach Mor Uphill Race on New Year’s Day has already been covered here.

The other nominations were both for runs at the final East District League meeting at Balbardie Park, Bathgate. Julie Menzies put in a tremendous performance in the 5.8k women’s race finishing as the 4th masters athlete in 23:14. Not to be outdone, Ben Hukins matched this placing in the 8.8k men’s race where he timed at 29:55, helping our men’s masters secure a top 3 league position for the 5th year in a row.

Well done again to all four nominees. Gayle will now have at least two entries for Run of the Year. Can anyone else manage to get in on the act this month?
