Six athletes from PH Racing Club took part in the recent Scottish Masters Championships on the track in Dundee and each won a medal in every event they entered, 12 in total.
Most events took place on Saturday with PH athletes in action over races ranging from 100m up to 1500m, the first time the club have been represented at some of these distances.
Alistair Radbourne ran three events and picked up V55 medals in each of the sprints, winning 100m silver in 13.44, 200m silver in 28:.3 and 400m bronze in 63.30 seconds.
Mary Western also tried her hand at the 100m, having never raced it before, and been unable to break 20 seconds in practice. She was therefore very happy to come away with a V60 bronze medal for her run of 17.14 seconds. About an hour later she ran the more familiar 800m and this time topped the podium, running 2:45.71 to win gold.
Mark Western also doubled up, running the 800m in the morning and winning V55 bronze, having timed at 2:39.37. Then in the afternoon he backed this up with another bronze medal performance of 5:21.29 in the 1500m.

Also running the same two events, in the V70 category, was Ed Norton, and it’s no surprise that he added another two golds to his collection. Ed managed another two terrific performances of 2:51.77 for the 800m and 5:48.08 for 1500m.
The final PH athlete taking part on Saturday was David Burlton, who found himself in a very competitive 1500m and won bronze for his run of 4:30.34 to make the trip up from Yorkshire worthwhile.
Ed Norton was back in action on Sunday in the 5000m and completed his hattrick with a third gold medal in another excellent time of 20:55.xx. Joining him in the event was Paul Kieran who won V45 bronze in a time of 16:38.17.
It was a superb weekend for the club with great performances all round, and also good to see members stepping out of their comfort zone and trying something a bit different. Perhaps next year we will see someone trying the long jump or the javelin?
Thanks to Scottish Athletics for the usual smooth organisation and to Bobby Gavin for the excellent race photos.
