Saturday 7th January saw the conclusion of the East District Cross Country League at Bathgate. 4 women and 12 men turned out for the club on a glorious winter’s day for some classic country race conditions.
Andy Davis was first PH male home, putting in another great performance, clocking 29:01 for 21st place overall and 3rd master. Continuing the season long battle, he was closely followed in 22nd place and 4th master by Ben Hukins who was only 26 seconds back. Mark Ryan finished inside 30 mins as the club’s third counter in the masters race which was good enough to secure 2nd place master’s team overall on the day and 2nd place for the season, another solid season for the Master’s men.

Julie Menzies continued her excellent form, despite recent injuries, with a time of 22:25 to be first PH female woman finishing 14th overall and 3rd master. Judy Turner was next home, finishing in the top 40 overall, with Clare Graham and Susan Allan both finishing well to complete the women’s team. This capped off a good season for the women’s team who were 3rd in the Masters league and 6th overall.

Phil Waring, Robert Sellar and Michael Lindsay all finished in the top 100 of the field to give the men’s team enough points for 5th overall. This result helped secure PH Racing Club’s second best finish in the league for the men, with a 5th overall also for the full season, which is a fantastic performance by the team as a whole.
