Falkland was the venue for the recent Scottish Mid-Trail Championships, hosted by Fife AC, as part of their Festival of Trail Running. PH Racing Club have previously won a number of medals at this event and did so once again here.
Senior and masters athletes all covered a tough course of approximately 10 kilometres with males and females running together. First finisher for PH was Andrew Davis, 13th overall in 35:04, but first V40 to secure a national gold medal and an excellent upgrade from bronze at the last event in 2019. Ben Hukins wasn’t far behind, 17th in 35:26 to win a V40 silver, his first individual medal in PH colours. Just over a minute back was in-form Mark Ryan who completed the podium in the V40 category with a run of 36:36. Aaron Bennet filled out the PH men’s team which finished 4th in the team competition.

In the women’s race Julie Menzies was the sole competitor from PH and she also had a great run of 42:15, finishing as 6th female and winning silver in the V40 category, behind Sara Green of Gala Harriers who was also the overall race winner.

It was another fine day’s work for the club, winning a total of four medals. Well done to all and thanks to Fife AC and Scottish Athletics for bringing back this popular event. Thanks also to Pete Bracegirdle for the superb race photos.
